By Team Grid on December 30, 2009Chico…bikes. Bikes…chico. They’re everywhere and, to many, bikes remind them of Chico, and Chico reminds them of bikes; and we recently spent some time at Chico’s finest bike spot…

Brian Daellenbach is one of the most passionate and dedicated guys we’ve ever come across, and it shines through the moment you enter either of his shops here in Chico. Brian officially opened The Bike Barn in 1996 after purchasing it from second owner Carston Morris who had purchased it from founder from Del Pantel. The name was later changed to Chico Bike and Board in 1999, to rebrand the shop and revitalize the Chico staple.
If you’ve been in Chico for a while, you’ll know that Brian has spread his roots to now two locations in town. The first shop (845 Main) has become the go-to spot for skaters, bmxers, cruisers, and more recently, fixie-riders. To meet the need and expand the inventory, Brian then opened the new location at 325 Broadway. Each shop has its own feel, unique disposition, but still carries some of the finest product in Chico.
Which brings us to our next point…in a town where there’s about 1 bike shop for every 10,000 people (thanks for the stats Brian
customers need to have a good experience; and they can find that at Chico Bike and Board. Brian and the crew pride themselves on having low prices, listening and addressing feedback and suggestions, offering high quality brands, parts, and products, demonstrating value, etc. etc. the list goes on and on.
You could spend all day READING about how great the shop and the guys are, but we suggest you take some time and SEE what they have to offer. AND RIDE YOUR BIKE TO WORK/SCHOOL/PLAY!!!

im sorry but bike and board has to be the worst shop in chico along with campus and cyclesport. if you like overpriced items, horrible service, and far too expensive repair rates go to these stores.

bike and board is freakin’ great. with the ever growing fixed gear community, only bike and board and the bicycle wheel are in on that. whenever i go to cyclesport i get funny looks for riding a track bike. even when i upgraded to a full on ‘drome spec bike they were dicks to me. i guess everyone’s experience differs.

I love Chico Bike and Board. I recently took my 15 year old ten speed to the shop on main street and they fixed it up for me. They changed the handlebars and now I use it as a great commuter! They know there stuff! ~KJ
