We all know that we should keep an eye out for our number one gal, Mother Earth, and Team Grid is definitely a supporter of sustainability. We love to hear stories of people doing “green” things and implementing clean technology. Case in point, Klean Kanteen (http://www.kleankanteen.com/). We were recently fortunate enough to sit down with Sales Manager Chris Carlson to get some inside info on one of Chico’s most successful businesses.
Six years ago company founder Robert Seals developed the concept of a sustainable water bottle. Taking into account the fact that millions of plastic bottles are used and thrown out each day, and only about a quarter of those are recycled, Seals knew there had to be a change. Aside from the issue of simple overuse and disregard for sustainability, Seals also knew the chemicals and health issues associated with plastic bottles were an immense factor. Many single use plastic bottles release a chemical called BPA after extended exposure to heat or harsh conditions, so it made perfect sense to develop a sustainable alternative. With such a unique concept, it’s no surprise that Klean Kanteen was the first company to develop a stainless steel bottle for civilian use.
Klean Kanteen was developed with initial feedback from people in Chico, as well as nationwide, and a large priority of the company was to talk to everyday people that would use the product. In doing this, the company wanted to see exactly what customers wanted and how to fully implement Klean Kanteen. Since then, success has been immense and the company continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
So there you have it folks! It’s exciting to know this “green” forefront leader was based in Chico! Pretty cool huh? So keep checking The Grid for more “green” info, and make sure to pick up a Klean Kanteen!
