Breaking News! ChicoGrid is beginning to expand to new mediums. More specifically, radio. Now, not www.gridradio.com (which is local Chico music, and another part of the Grid), but local broadcast Radio! Marc Albert (News Director) over at KZFR Community Radio was nice enough to spend some time with us talking about what they do, what we do, and what’s great about Chico. Marc also spent some time telling us about their mission and operations. KZFR’s is a noncommercial, non-profit, public service organization dedicated to playing music and disseminating news and information. Their purpose is to entertain, educate, and to contribute to cultural appreciation and enlightenment. We really enjoyed getting a little tour of the offices, talking to Marc, and seeing how things work at one of our local Chico establishments. ALSO, a few fun facts about KZFR is that they broadcast all over the Northern Sacramento Valley, and realizes support from 120 volunteers who provide variety and great content! In fact, if you want to get involved in KZFR as a volunteer and even BE ON THE RADIO, contact the office @ (530) 895-0706. Just another example of the cool things that happen here in our very own backyard. While there, we also talked a bit about The Grid and our set-up, future plans, goals, and ways we aim to benefit Chico citizens. Listen up for the radio spot this Saturday (August 15th) between 5:30 and 6:00 pm! Get more info and support KZFR 90.1 @ www.kzfr.org, and make sure to keep checking for new goods on The Grid!
